Welcome to Maple High School — a place where every student is known, supported, and empowered.
At Maple, we believe in the power of community. As a Big Picture Learning school, we are committed to creating a learning environment where students thrive academically, personally, and socially. Our mission is to help students become confident, capable learners who can successfully transition to college, careers, and life beyond high school.
We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. In a world overflowing with information, we believe the most valuable skill a student can learn is how to learn. Our personalized, student-centered model is guided by the Five Learning Goals: Personal Qualities, Communication, Quantitative Reasoning, Empirical Reasoning, and Social Reasoning. These goals shape each student’s experience and are embedded in every aspect of our curriculum.
From the first day at Maple, we focus on building a culture of respect, responsibility, and resilience. We work as a team with families, staff, and community partners to ensure students are supported every step of the way. Whether it’s improving reading and math skills, boosting attendance, exploring college classes, or preparing for meaningful careers, we are here to help students succeed.
Our commitment to real-world learning is core to who we are. Through internships, guest speakers, field trips, and community events, students gain valuable experience and build lasting connections. These opportunities not only make learning relevant but also prepare students for life after graduation.
Social-emotional support is another essential part of our school culture. Weekly advisory lessons, on-site counselors, and access to therapy services ensure that students have the tools they need to navigate challenges and grow as individuals. We’re proud to partner with organizations like Future for Lompoc Youth, Girls Inc., YOR, and Be Well to expand the resources available to our students.
Our staff, including every teacher, counselor, and support team member, works collaboratively to identify student needs and celebrate student strengths. With a strong Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system in place, we focus on teaching, modeling, and reinforcing positive behaviors that create a safe and supportive campus for all.
At Maple, we are more than a school, we are a community. We care deeply about our students, and we are committed to helping them leave with a clear plan and a bright future.
Thank you for being a part of Maple High School.
Warmly,
Principal Schroeder
